St Martin/St Marteen is located between the
Greater and Lesser Antilles. Before being discovered,
the island was inhabited by a tribe of Arawak Indians
and then later by Caribbean Indians. They gave the island
the name "Sualouiga", meaning "Land of
Salt". St. Martin is famous for its 37 different
beaches, each with its own distinctive attractions.
Orient Bay (also known as the “St Tropez of the
Caribbean”) is particularly well known for its
wide expanse of velvety white sand and its underwater
marine reserve that boasts a coral reef that is perfect
for snorkeling!
